WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Anyone aged 10 or over, who can float for 10 minutes in water too deep in which to stand and is medically fit can sign up for the PADI Scuba Diver course. Do read the PADI Medical Form and if there is a ‘yes’ answer, then you would be required to consult a doctor and get a valid clearance in writing before you can dive. Scuba diving adapts to the person rather than the other way around, making it a sport that can also be enjoyed by people with physical or mental challenges.
As per the regulations in the Andamans, the age limit for diving courses is 60. Guests over 50 must get a medical clearance for scuba diving.

HOW IS THE COURSE STRUCTURED?
It typically takes about 2½ days to complete the PADI Scuba Diver course, which has 3 parts: theory, confined water sessions, and open water dives. Theory involves watching videos and taking quizzes to test your knowledge, and this can be completed online before you arrive on the island to save more time.
During the confined water sessions, you will learn basic skills such as the functionalities of the scuba equipment, how to control your buoyancy, what to do in case a problem arises, etc. Then you progress to the open water dives, where you will be swimming underwater with the fish, applying some of the skills you learnt, and having a lot of fun.

WHAT NEXT?
The PADI Open Water Diver certification, of course! This licence would allow you to dive down to 18 metres / 60 feet without the supervision of a dive professional but with a buddy, for scuba diving is always done in buddy teams.
